This June 2, the Oregon Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense will join hundreds of thousands of Americans as they Wear Orange in recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness day. The annual Wear Orange event began after Hadiya Pendleton, a 15 year-old Chicago student, was shot and killed by gunfire just days after marching in President Obama's second inaugural parade. On June 2, 2015, what would have been Hadiya's 18th birthday, her friends created Wear Orange as a way to celebrate her memory and bring awareness to the epidemic of gun violence in our country. Orange in the color hunters wear to protect themselves and others - to say "see me, my life is precious". Wear Orange honors the lives of Hadiya and the 93 Americans killed daily by gun violence.
This year also marks our first ever Wear Orange fundraising drive to raise money for Moms’ work in Oregon and nationally. All donations will go towards our BeSMART educational program, which focuses on preventing child gun deaths; survivor engagement, which provides community and support for survivors of gun violence; and research on the problem of gun violence in America. 25% of money raised through this page will go directly to support these programs here in Oregon.
Please contribute to the Wear Orange fundraising drive by June 2 to help Oregon Moms take our activism to the next level and amplify our call to end gun violence.
Thank you from all the Oregon Moms and survivors!

About Moms Demand Action: Much like Mothers Against Drunk Driving was created to reduce drunk driving, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America was created to demand action from legislators, state and federal; companies; and educational institutions to establish common-sense gun reforms. We are educating, motivating, and mobilizing supporters to take action that will result in stronger laws and policies to save lives.
