Help Commissioner Ottaway to the Finish Line

Dear Friends and Supporters,

If you haven’t heard.  I’m up for election again for the City Commission seat I was appointed to in 2022.  It has been my honor to serve the community the last couple of years and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so.  Unfortunately, things are getting expensive in this campaign and I could really use a little bit of help to get me to the finish line.

Why I Need Your Help:

I’m launching this fundraising endeavor to ensure I have the resources needed to finish the job I started when I was appointed to the Marquette City Commission. Things have gotten so much more expensive than any of my previous elections.  Items such as signs, door hangers, postcards and postage have all risen in cost over the last few years as these items were not immune to rising costs from inflation.

About Me:

I was appointed to the Marquette City Commission to the seat that was vacated by Representative Jenn Hill.  Prior to being appointed I was the Chairperson of the Marquette Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors and the Marquette Board of Zoning Appeals.

I have three amazing children and a very supportive wife who have allowed me the necessary time to be a successful public servant while working full-time in the insurance industry.

I am nearly a lifelong Marquette resident.  I love our city and I don’t intend to leave.  I graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 2002 and Northern Michigan University in 2006.

I am passionate about keeping Marquette affordable for those who live here.  I believe it is our municipal government’s duty to find creative ways to bring in revenue and create housing affordability as well as keep our taxes from unnecessary rises.

I support policies and ideas that protect our lakeshore and useable public spaces.  Marquette is unique because of how much public space we have and I intend to keep it that way.

I believe we do our finest work when all stakeholders are actively involved.  This includes my fellow commissioners, the city manager, city staff and residents that live in the community. Teamwork is the key to success and keeping personal agendas and egos away from government helps us all.

Two Ways to Help:

1. Donate: Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a huge difference!

2. Share: Spread the word by sharing this campaign on social media!

I sincerely appreciate any help you are willing to give and I know your contribution will put me over the top.  Thank you for helping me continue to move Marquette forward!

Best regards,

Commissioner Jermey Ottaway
