Across Maui, cultural practitioners, lineal descendants, and community leaders carry generations of knowledge about the places we call home. Their voices are essential to protecting our island, restoring our natural and cultural resources, and ensuring that decisions made today honor those who came before while providing for those yet to come.
Paeahu was created to help elevate those voices.
Through community engagement, education, stewardship, and collaborative partnerships, Paeahu works to ensure that local knowledge, cultural values, and lived experience help shape the future of Maui.
Community-Led. Culturally Grounded.
Paeahu believes that lasting solutions begin by listening first.
We work alongside trained cultural practitioners, lineal descendant families, kūpuna, educators, and community members to support initiatives that reflect the priorities of the communities themselves. By creating meaningful opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, we help ensure that community knowledge informs restoration efforts, conservation, education, and long-term planning.
Our work is rooted in the understanding that caring for the ʻāina begins with respecting the people whose histories, families, and traditions remain connected to it.
Fiscal Sponsorship
Paeahu is currently operating under the fiscal sponsorship of ʻĀina Momona, a Hawaiʻi-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring abundant and resilient communities through mālama ʻāina and community leadership.
This partnership allows Paeahu to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions while building the organizational capacity needed to expand its programs and serve the Maui community. All donations made through this campaign are administered by ʻĀina Momona in support of Paeahu's mission and charitable activities.
