State Senator Katie Muth is a fragile incumbent. She was first elected in 2018 when she defeated the Republican incumbent. She has been a champion of environmental protection, even taking on her own party over gas lines. The Republicans want this seat back!
State Representative Dan Williams is a House incumbent whose district lies within Katie’s. With the 2020 redistricting, his district has changed a great deal. He has to introduce himself to his new constituents.
Challenger Cathy Spahr’s district also overlaps Katie’s. Democrats have come close to flipping this one in the last two elections. As a working single mother of two, Cathy understands well the challenges facing working families.
Challenger Paul Friel narrowly lost to the Republican incumbent in his district (embedded in Katie’s Senate district) in 2020. Paul is a small business owner with strong and deep ties to his district including as a current member of his local school board.
