Greg Pattenaude for Poestenkill Town Board

I was not planning to run for town office, but I had to. I was not going to let an open spot on the Democratic line for Town Board stay that way. Not this year! The voters in Poestenkill deserve choices for Town Board candidates, and for the first time in many years, that will happen.

I’ve served on two Comprehensive Plan committees, the current 2006 version and the updated version which was presented to the Town Board for consideration. I am grateful for that opportunity.

I believe in openness and transparency in government. No significant action should be taken without robust public notice and education. I believe in the highest standards for ethical behavior. The mere suggestion of a conflict of interest chills openness and integrity. I also am a firm believer in consensus. While not all matters can be resolved in that manner, I’ll never stop trying to thread a needle to find a way.

I will fight to protect our open spaces and preserve our scenic beauty. Our hamlet has so much potential; I am a firm advocate of seeing it grow by encouraging retail businesses to prosper.

My spouse and I decided before we were married that this is where we wanted to raise our children if we were so blessed.  And we were. Now is the time to give back. I look forward to meeting many of you and for your consideration in November.
