Paz Amigos

The Stewart Detention Center a private prison run by Civic Corp holds 1700-2000 men in Lumpkin, GA. It has housed immigration detainees for nearly 10 years.

Paz Amigos is a 501(c)(3) that exists to assist undocumented/asylum seekers who have been released from Stewart Detention Center get to their families and friends safely with some food, clothing, a blanket, backpack, toothbrush and, when necessary, a bed at a hotel or with one of our volunteers.

We do so with kindness to show them that they are valued as human beings.

The released men are left at the Columbus Greyhound or Groome Transportation with only the clothes they had on when they entered. The Greyhound closes at 4:30 pm. We have helped men who have been dropped off as late as midnight. They are usually starving and cold.

Your contribution helps us purchase and provide the following:

  • Clothes
  • Laces/belts removed at the Center
  • Toiletries
  • Backpack with blanket and pillow for long bus trips across the country
  • Food/snacks
  • Hotels or accommodation when needed
  • Transportation
  • Much more!

Let’s show these men that goodness and kindness is the American way.
