Stand with Mayor Mamdani's ally in NY-13. (PCCC)

Darializa Avila Chevalier is a community organizer and CUNY doctoral student, the daughter of Dominican immigrants, who has spent her career fighting for racial justice, immigrant rights, and affordable housing.

On June 23, she pulled off one of the signature upsets of 2026, defeating six-term incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat in the Democratic primary.

She is one of three challengers endorsed by NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and all three swept to victory the same night. The Mayor framed the stakes simply: electing better Democrats who put working people back at the heart of politics.

Darializa is running on housing, Medicare for All, taxing the rich, getting corporate money out of our politics, good union jobs, taking on the climate crisis, and investing in our babies, not bombs.

Her victory is proof that when Democrats show up with a real answer for working people, they win.
