Peace Action is thrilled to endorse Mussab Ali in New Jersey's 8th Congressional district.

Mussab Ali moved to Jersey City from Lahore, Pakistan at the age of 3. He learned about public service from his mailman father and schoolteacher mother. At age 21, he became the youngest person elected to the Jersey City Board of Education, going on to become Board President a couple of years later. He fought to eliminate student lunch debt, raise teacher salaries, and secure full school funding for the first time in a decade. In 2021, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but was luckily able to beat it and go into remission.

He believes in change, both domestically and abroad. "The military-industrial complex has dominated our federal budget for too long. The government spends over $100 million lobbying both sides of the aisle to secure its dominance, resulting in hundreds of billions allocated to the Department of Defense while healthcare, education, and housing go underfunded. I support significant cuts to Pentagon spending, targeting wasteful weapons programs, no-bid contracts, and systems that exist to enrich defense contractors rather than keep Americans safe. We must reform campaign finance to rid our government of the defense industry's influence so our nation can end forever wars, foster global peace, and invest in the services every American deserves."
