The Peoples Turnout Project is an organization dedicated to registering, educating, and mobilizing voters of color in North Texas.
Building on Deborah Peoples’ track record of energizing and mobilizing voters of color, the Peoples Turnout Project is continuing the work engaging with voters who are traditionally left out of the political process.
The year-round work of the Peoples Turnout Project is targeted at Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Collin, and Ellis counties due to their record growth, diversification, and vote share.
From 2016 to 2020, Texas gained over 1.3 million new Democratic voters. Nearly one-third of them live in these 5 target counties in North Texas.
The goal of the Peoples Turnout Project is to provide an open hand to new North Texas residents, particularly those of diverse backgrounds. That way, elected leaders will better represent their people, and fewer residents will be excluded from and resentful of the political process.
