In Spring 2020, many low-income students faced two crises: when their schools closed, they lost their housing; when the economy abruptly stopped, they lost their jobs—all while dealing with the spread of COVID-19.
For many across the country, internships are the main source of income, providing food, shelter, and ultimately a chance to secure a job in their respective fields.
As a result, Pay Our Interns launched the Intern Relief Fund, with the goal of providing stipends ranging from $150 to $1500, depending on need.
What can you use these funds for? For immediate needs (groceries, helping pay rent and utilities) and offsetting the cost of an unpaid internship.
Our Impact: Since the summer, we have disbursed over $120,000 to student/recent grads across the country.

Background: Pay Our Interns (POI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes a young adult’s socioeconomic status should not impede them from getting real-world work experience. POI spearheaded the creation of the Congressional Intern Fund which has awarded over $31 million to 9,000 interns in the past two years.
