The above contribution rules are ActBlue contribution rules. Ohio law limits contributions to $12,707.79 per donor, or $25,415.58 per couple per election cycle. Ohio law also requires political committees to report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $100 in a calendar year. Corporate contributions are prohibited by law. Partnerships, limited liability companies and other unincorporated entities may contribute, but must include the name of the owner or owners to whom to attribute the contribution. Contributions or gifts to Cordray/Sutton Committee are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Ohio taxpayers may claim a state tax credit for contributions made to political campaign committees of candidates for statewide office or the General Assembly. The credit is the lesser of the amount contributed or $50 for an individual return or $100 for a joint return. If you’d like to mail your contribution, please send a check payable to “Cordray/Sutton Committee” to the following address: Cordray/Sutton Committee, PO Box 7910, Columbus, Ohio 43207
Donors are permitted to give up to $3,000 to a candidate for statewide office. Donor and spouse may both individually give up to the $3000 limit. Candidates for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor on the same ticket are considered a single candidate for the purpose of this section. The contribution limits apply to each election. This means that the primary election and general election are separate elections so long as the candidate is not an unopposed candidate as defined in s 106.011
Each person is allowed to contribute up $2,000 during the primary election and $2,000 during the general election cycle. A person includes individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, associations, and organizations. During the Kansas Legislative Session, only individuals make may contributions.
