Moments ago, with the decision by the Wangaard campaign to decide against pursuing court action, the Senate Democrats officially have the majority.
I want to commend Van Wangaard for coming to this decision. After the official canvass and a full recount of all the votes in the 21st Senate District, John Lehman's lead of over 800 votes was upheld. Today's decision finalizes the results.
All that is left is for Senator-elect Lehman to be sworn in and officiall seated in the state senate.
The playing field is now set for the November Election. With a razor thin 17-16 majority, every campaign around the state is crucial. The reality is we need staff, campaign offices, and expensive advertising to hold this lead.
