Natural disasters do not wait, do not warn.
A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake off Puerto Rico's southwestern coast early Tuesday morning and every single day since then, has triggered a widespread blackout, interrupted telecommunications and sent homeowners scrambling out of collapsing homes in towns near the epicenter. After Hurricane Maria, Puerto Ricos' infrastructure is extremely weak to stand any natural disaster. It is expected that this situation will continue and escalated in the next hours. One fatality was reported and more than 10,000 people are in shelters.
More than 4,500 people are sleeping on the streets including elders and infants.
Education and prevention are vital. The only thing we can control is how we react to them. Puerto Rico Rises will travel around the Island offering workshops and seminars to communities and bringing the necessary tools for better execution in making decisions when facing them.
In total harmony with this, PR Rises wants to be prepared to be able to provide assistance to potential victims by offering, water, food, shelter, and education.
In our two years of existence PR Rises has been able to help over 100,000 in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti and The Bahamas with virtually no funds - This video lets you know everything we've accomplished.
Can you imagine everything we could achieve with your help?
