The Q Trust - Arizona Slate

Arizona has a long history of attacking LGBTQ people. In 2014, the Arizona Legislature passed SB1062, which would have given any individual or business entity an exemption to any state law if it substantially burdened their exercise of religion. The governor at the time vetoed the bill. Democrats are two seats away from flipping the State House and three seats away from flipping the State Senate. If successful, this would be the first time since the 1960s that Democrats control either legislative chamber and would be a prime opportunity for passing pro-LGBTQ public policy. The Governor has said that he would support statewide nondiscrimination protections.
