The Case for Support: Equality NC is the oldest statewide organization fighting for the civil rights of LGBTQ people. It does so by elevating the lives of LGBTQ people in the media, policy advocacy and working to get pro-equality candidates elected, trained and engaged with our community. Equality NC began its work in the 1990 Jesse Helms - Harvey Gantt race, which pushed against the old guard of ultraconservative and anti-LGBTQ politicians. And in 2020, Equality NC is proud to have endorsed this incredible slate of LGBTQ+ and pro-equality candidates and we are mobilizing our base to get them elected and build the North Caroline we all deserve.
