The Candidate:
Rep. Shairce Davids (D) is a freshman member of the United States House of Representatives. A member of the Ho-Chunk Nation tribe, she worked her way from community college to Cornell Law School. Prior to serving in Congress, Davids worked as an attorney, served a White House fellowship during President Barack Obama's administration, and practiced professional mixed-martial arts.
The Case for Support:
Davids was part of the most diverse wave of freshman elected to Congress that catapulted Democrats back into the majority. She is the first openly LGBTQ member of Congress from Kansas and one of the first Native American women elected to Congress. Three women are running in the Republican primary on August 4 to take on Rep. Davids, who is working hard to get the resources and support she needs to win re-election in November.
