From April 20-23rd, Catalyst Project and Highlander Center are bringing together groups that do anti-racist organizing with poor and working class white communities to share skills, analysis, stories, and strategies for building racial justice.
On Wednesday, Catalyst kicked off a fundraising campaign to raise $30K in 6 days for the convening. An amazing group of donors came together to offer $15,000 in matching donations, so every dollar donated to my page will be doubled.
My work as an organizer for racial justice has been deeply shaped by Catalyst since I first encountered their programming in post-Katrina New Orleans in 2008. This year I completed a 6-month intensive anti-racist organizing training program with Catalyst. A key learning for me was the very basic important of moving money to support communities of color and anti-racism work. Simply put, our movements need money to meet their goals and win.
Catalyst has been a visionary force in training and developing white people involved with racial justice work for decades. Their focus on poor and working-class white communities at this political moment is exactly the kind of work we all need to be supporting to get us to the United States and world we want.
Progressive organizations in poor and working-class white communities are often under-resourced, isolated, and targets of white supremacist backlash. But these are some of the organizations that have been organizing under Trump-like governments for many years, and their lessons are crucial for our ability to defeat Trumpism and build a better world.
It would mean a lot to me to have your support in this particular effort.
Donate today, and together we can make this critical Convening happen!
