Flip the Senate in Honor of the Notorious RBG

Rest in power and peace, RBG. May your memory be a blessing for us all. I'm sad and mad and just so motivated to do all I can help take back the Senate because RBG gave us so much. It's our turn to the do the work to protect what is left of our democracy. I set this up to direct donations to 11 Senate candidates: for two incumbent Democratic Senators - Peters (MI) & Jones (AL) and nine Democratic or Independent candidates to challenge the Republican enablers who have allowed this administration to bring democracy to its knees. The Republican party has already rammed the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett through. It's even more imperative that we take back the Senate this fall. Get mad, and vote them out!

To be honest, I had been puzzled why the judiciary has not been a focus of the Democratic campaign. This is an urgent concern because even if Biden wins the White House, if the Senate stays within Republican control, Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader will continue the pattern of obstructionism for the legislative process AND for judicial appointments that we saw with Obama in his last two years in office. That has led to this corrupt, unethical administration to appoint more than 100 federal judges at the district and appellate levels, as well as two Supreme Court justices, more than any other president in history with the exception of Jimmy Carter. Bottom line: 45 might now have three appointees on the Supreme Court with the passing of RBG.

Here are the 11 races to support through donations, volunteer time, etc:

  • MI is a battleground state that has an incumbent D Senator (Gary Peters) who needs to win to flip the Senate.
  • AL (Doug Jones) has been speaking out as a Dem Senator from a ruby red state. Let's support him and help keep that seat.
  • TX (MJ Hegar) is now considered a battleground state. Let's make TX more blue by electing this working mom and vet who wants to continue to serve her country in the Senate.
  • AK: Dr. Al Gross is an independent from a pretty red state, but has a good shot at taking this Senate seat.
  • IA (Theresa Greenfield), KS (Dr. Barbara Bollier), ME (Sara Gideon), MT (Steve Bullock), and two seats in GA (Raphael Warnock/Jon Ossoff) all represent states with vulnerable R Senate seats and strong D or Independent candidates.
  • NC: Cal Cunningham did one of the dumbest things ever and NC voters like him much less because of it, but seem willing to vote for him anyway. It would be a big boost to flipping the Senate to take this seat in a purple state.

If you want to pick the top "moneyball" candidates where your dollars could have the greatest impact, then donate to Dr. Al Gross (Alaska), Steve Bullock (Montana), Sara Gideon (ME), Dr. Barbara Bollier (Kansas), and Theresa Greenfield (IA). You can customize amounts by going to the link to the right.

I haven't included Jamie Harrison in SC who is running to defeat Lindsay Graham, one of the most spineless and hypocritical Republican Senators who has flip flopped the most to support this administration, because he just broke the all-time record for fundraising in a single quarter for a Senate candidate. Both the Republican and Democratic parties have pulled their funds from CO because they're acknowledging John Hickenlooper as the presumptive favorite to win. And Mark Kelly (AZ) remains one of the best funded Dem challengers to Senate Republicans. So let's spread the wealth, shall we?

And then please consider donating to your favorite voter mobilization organization like Flip the West, Indivisible, Vote Save America, MoveOn, Sister District, Swing Left, etc. Most importantly, make sure you have a voting plan to complete and drop off your ballot or vote early. Commit to reminding every single one of your friends, family members and neighbors to confirm their voter registration, request a mail-in/absentee ballot and/or drop it off/vote early. We need to create a huge blue wave so this election doesn't go to the Supreme Court to be decided. WE WILL NEED EVERY SINGLE VOTE TO BE COUNTED.

How much is it worth it for your daughters and other girls and women you care about to have control over their health and their bodies? for us all to breathe clean air and drink clean water? to combat climate change? to have health care? to exercise our voting and civil rights? It's ALL on the line with this election. Donate NOW like it really really matters because it absolutely does. Let's do this.

In solidarity and with love...BC
