PLAYING POLITICS on the Texas State Board of Education, Republican Ken Mercer neglects public schools in order to push for charters. He votes to put bad science and dubious history into the curriculum. He treats teachers and educators and concerned parents with contempt. We need change on the board.
Dr. Rebecca Bell-Metereau is an award-winning professor of English and film at Texas State University. Her children are graduates of San Marcos public schools, where she was a PTA volunteer. She's run three times as the Democratic nominee in District 5, coming closer and closer each time to victory. She is running again in 2020, and this time she'll win.
District 5 is the Republican-held seat that Democrats have the best chance of winning. Rebecca is working now to build upon the network of parents, teachers and community members who have supported her in past campaigns and who brought her within four percent of the incumbent.
Please help Rebecca Bell-Metereau win in the November 2020 election, and let's give our Texas schoolchildren the education they deserve!
