Red wolves are the most endangered wolf species in the world--and the only population is in eastern North Carolina. Habitat loss, illegal killings, and vehicle strikes are preventing progress in the recovery of this very, very endangered species.
We are working in Washington, DC and have staff in North Carolina pushing for solutions and action. We recently worked with lawmakers on federal legislation to support the construction of wildlife crossings where needed around the country. And we are working to create a wildlife crossing in red wolf habitat to keep these wolves safe.
