Two years ago when I ran to represent the 38th Assembly District Part B as the Male Democratic District Leader to the Executive Committee of the Queens Democratic Party, I ran on issues such as advocating for better transportation, bringing concentration to the small businesses of this district, and to put the leaders of this district on the map of Queens’ leadership.
I’m proud to say that I’ve kept my campaign promises ever since getting elected. When I was appointed as a member of Queens BP Donovan Richards’s planning committee of the transition team, I worked with the team to propose a better public transportation system for the people of Southern Queens which includes solar-powered platforms and noise suppression. I also suggested a study on rainwater harvesting technology to reduce flooding.
During the past New York City-wide election cycle I was proud to partner with community leaders to bring elected officials and candidates like Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin (former State Senator), former Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, Assembly Member David Weprin, Citi Bank CEO Ray McGuire, etc to visit the small businesses on Jamaica Avenue. With the help of my colleagues, I helped create an open connection between the Bangladeshi Community and US Senator Chuck Schumer. As a member of the executive board of Queens County Young Democrats and as a District Leader, I’ve made sure to honor business leaders and community leaders during my club's annual Summer Bash event — to make sure the people of this great district receives the recognition it deserves.
With the support of the community, I have also hosted food drives, PPE giveaways, COVID19 tests not only in the district but also throughout the Borough of Queens. I’ve helped register people to vote and I’ve helped the party in nominating fantastic individuals to serve on the bench of New York State’s Supreme Court. I’ve also tirelessly worked to be a unifier within the Democratic Party and that’s why with the help of my colleagues in the executive committee I was able to unite democrats across the board regardless of religion, values, and color to sign on to a letter to the Mayor of NYC to make Diwali a public school holiday.
I want to continue to uplift the people of this district, honor them, and promote our small businesses. Jamaica Avenue is home to new small businesses that desperately need our help during the post COVID19 economic recovery period. I want to bring these small businesses to the attention of community boards and public elected officials. For that purpose, I’ve been identifying such new small businesses.
I want to continue this work and keep building on it.I’m running for re-election as the Male Democratic District Leader. That’s why I ask you for your support by chipping into my re-election campaign.
