In southeast Georgia, families, community members, and organizations have been working to bring justice for Ahmaud Arbery for months. The Sierra Club is in solidarity with those demanding justice and struggling for change. 100% of your gift will go toward these organizations in Georgia who are directly supporting the Arbery family and/or working to end anti-Blackness across different movement fronts.
- Black Voters Matter is increasing power in communities by increasing voter registration and turnout, advocating for policies to expand voting rights/access, and developing infrastructures where little/none exists, like staff training and candidate development. They also advocate for policies that intersect with race, gender, economic and other aspects of equity.
- Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative (SNAP Co) is a black, trans-led, broad based collaborative to restore an Atlanta where every person has the opportunity to grow and thrive without facing unfair barriers, especially from the criminally legal system.
- Black Alliance For Just Immigration (BAJI) educates and engages African American and black immigrant communities to organize and advocate for racial, social and economic justice. BAJI provides training and technical assistance to partner organizations to develop leadership skills, works with faith communities to harness their prophetic voice, and initiates vibrant dialogues with African Americans and black immigrants to discover more about race, our diverse identities, racism, migration and globalization.
- Women on the Rise is a grassroots organization led by formerly incarcerated women of color. They work to educate, heal, and empower ourselves, one another, and our communities to demand justice, dignity, and liberation for all.
- JUSTGeorgia JUSTGeorgia is a collective of Georgia organizations, activists, faith leaders, attorneys and justice-seeking community members. Their demands are a work in progress and begin with issues specifically related to the killing of Ahmaud Arbery. They ultimately seek to address the immediate and long-term needs of Georgians impacted by state violence, mass incarceration and other systems of oppression. The Georgia NAACP has had an unbroken presence in Georgia since 1917. JUSTGeorgia is fiscally sponsored by the Georgia NAACP.
