On Saturday, February 22, 2025, a brave young woman stood up for immigrant rights in LaBelle, FL, peacefully protesting against mass deportation and the mistreatment of our family, friends, and neighbors. Instead of being met with the respect and dignity she deserved, she faced hostility from bystanders—some hurling insults, one even pushing her. But it wasn’t the aggressors who were arrested—it was her.
The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office took her into custody under the vague charge of “disturbing the peace.” We know what this really is: an attempt to silence dissent and intimidate those who dare to speak out for justice. Now, she and her family are facing mounting legal fees and bail costs, and they need our help.
Her mother, understandably fearful in this moment, has asked that we protect her identity—but we will not let her fight this alone. We have seen this before, and we know the power of community. Every dollar donated will go directly to securing her release and ensuring she has the legal defense she needs to fight this unjust charge.
