Thoughtful, Compassionate, and Results-Driven Leadership
I’m Richard Garcia, a proud husband to Tere Garcia, father of six, grandparent of sixteen, and great-grandparent of eleven. As a 7th-generation Mexican American, I was born and raised in Monte Vista, Colorado, coming from a migrant farm-working family. Our work took us across the state, harvesting crops from the Western Slope to northern Colorado. In 1970, I moved to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado, a life-changing opportunity for migrant students like me, and I’ve called this community home ever since.
With over 38 years of experience in education and nonprofit leadership, I have dedicated my career to empowering families with limited access to resources. My journey includes serving on the Boulder Valley School Board, founding the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition, and co-founding organizations like AMISTAD and the ELPASO Movement.
Now, I’m running for Erie Town Council to bring thoughtful, compassionate, and results-driven leadership to our community. Your support will help ensure every resident of Erie has the opportunity to thrive.
