Talking the Fascist Advance with Bestselling Author Rick Perlstein and Haymarket Books Editor John McDonald
Join In These Times columnist, historian and acclaimed author Rick Perlstein for pizza, drinks, and an intimate conversation about fascism with Haymarket Books editor John McDonald. The discussion will surround the fascist advance in American politics and the forces that have brought us to this dangerous moment.
Rick will offer a preview of The Infernal Triangle, the working title of his new book, and share his latest thinking on the relationship between conservative power, political backlash and the erosion of democratic life. He and John will discuss various issues surrounding fascism and U.S. politics. Rick will then open the conversation to guests for a candid discussion about how fascism takes hold, how history can help us recognize it and what resistance requires now. This will be a small gathering with time for questions, reflection, mingling, and conversation.
