Virginia Delegate Danica Roem is serving her third term in the Virginia House of Delegates. You may remember in 2017 she unseated the self-described "chief homophobe" of Virginia to become the first out-and-seated transgender state legislator in US history. Since then, she has passed 41 of her bills into law -- all with bipartisan support. Now she is running for a newly drawn district in the Virginia State Senate. This is one of the seven toss-up seats and the 20th-most Democratic seat out of 40 seats, making it a majority maker for which party will control the Senate for the next four years.

Grassroots Democrats HQ

The Grassroots Democrats HQ is excited to dive back into Virginia for the fourth time! In 2019, we were proud to make 20,000 phone calls and write 13,000 letters across 6 races. Since then, our capacity has significantly expanded. For the 2021 VA election, we sent 1.1 million texts, made 230,000 calls, wrote 3,400 postcards, and mobilized 1,300 volunteers across the nation. We partnered both with the VA Dem House Caucus and each swing campaign to ensure we were helping both sides. Over the course of the 2021-22 Election Cycle, we made over 11 million voter contacts across VA HOD, CA Recall, US House, and US Senate target races. We look forward to working with you in 2023.
