Rural Organizing Initiative (ROI) is a community organizing group specializing in local candidate support.
ROI is dedicated to preserving democracy by helping people who live in rural areas become empowered to participate in the electoral and governing process by encouraging voter registration and assisting candidates to run for local offices.
With the normal turnover in election organizing, many rural areas have traditionally struggled to maintain systems that consistently carry over from election cycle to election cycle. We work to maintain existing systems and improve where it helps.
ROI organizes and engages citizens in historically underserved rural communities and encourages them to run for office. We work to increase civic engagement and participation among the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and youth communities by opening community centers where locals can gather and share ideas, by providing hands-on training and tools for candidates, by training local activists, and by giving local citizens easily accessible voter registration tools.
