About the Heart of the Party Rutherford County Democratic Women (RCDW)

We are working to create a state rooted in a deep commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice, and ready to build an equitable future for everyone who calls Tennessee home.

RCDW is a grassroots, all-volunteer group working to advance Democratic values, policies and candidates. We see our work as one thread in a large tapestry of diverse Tennesseans working in diverse ways to transform our state.

We work with others to build the power needed to create a Tennessee where everyone who lives here has the opportunities, access, and support they need to build lives free from state-sanctioned oppression and policy violence enacted through unjust laws and policies. Voter suppression is violence. Failure to expand Medicaid is violence. Anti transgender legislation is violence. Failure to legislate a living wage is violence. Refusing to pass common sense gun laws is violence. The Republican destruction of democratic norms of governance is violence. We call on community members to join us in imagining a better Tennessee, and working together to bring about transformative change.
