For a long time now, this area has largely had the same type of local representation. Some people step into public office out of a genuine sense of responsibility to the people they serve. Others pursue office for self-interest, business interests, or to advance a narrow religious agenda that doesn’t reflect the full community.
I’m running for Putnam County Mayor because I don’t believe local leadership should be driven by partisan warfare or outrage. It should be rooted in people’s daily lives, and any growth and expansion should center the people who live here. I grew up here. I came home believing I could build a stable life here with my two daughters, and like many teachers, nurses, social workers, first responders, and working class families, I’ve learned how hard that has become. Housing is unaffordable, families are stretched thin, and too many real issues keep getting pushed aside.
I know campaigns cost money, but I will be honest: I straight up hate how much money is wasted in political campaigns. As I drive around town passing every yard sign, the bigger signs, the even bigger signs, the billboard, the little cha-ching sound plays in my head with each one. And with every cha-ching, I think about the money that could have gone directly back into this community.
To resolve this in my conscience, as much as possible, I am going to run this campaign at cost. Parts of campaigning will cost money, but if people want a sign or a shirt, they can pay the baseline cost and that money goes right back into the campaign. I hope to raise as much as possible, but not have to use much at all. In the end, whether I win or lose, every dollar left will be donated to the Putnam County Library System.
However you choose to support this effort, thank you.
