Help Ryan Raise Funds or SURJ in Ohio!

Help Ryan Raise Funds or SURJ in Ohio!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I'm asking you to join me in supporting Show Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) in defeating MAGA bigotry, hate, and violence, and BUILDING a pluralistic, multiracial democracy that provides basic needs and protects fundamental human rights. We can do this!!

Don't give up now! The positive energy and vision of the Harris/Walz campaign has been intoxicating, but it won’t make a shred of difference in November unless WE CHOOSE TO ACT NOW, and SURJ is helping people like us make a difference with limited time, energy, and resources.

SURJ is working aggressively to disarm the Right’s most powerful tool: racism. By mobilizing to inoculate vulnerable white communities from racist messages of the MAGA/Republican Party, SURJ is helping disaffected white people make meaning of the world in a way that builds solidarity and gives them a sense of purpose and belonging. SURJ has amazing people on the ground organizing to mobilize a universe of 12 million persuadable and undecided white working class, rural voters in Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Nevada, and Arizona through its phone, text, and field campaigns.

For this Many Over The MAGA Fundraising Drive, I’m focusing my efforts to support SURJ Ohio, where SURJ has been active and winning for years:

  • SURJ successfully supported five school board candidates (including two SURJ members) who all won their races in November 2023 against candidates backed by Moms for Liberty, a national MAGA-aligned group that has built a platform attacking trans kids and banning teaching about racism in schools. SURJ National Members and leaders on the ground in Ohio contacted white suburban voters to rally their support for pro-trans, anti-racist, pro-teacher platforms.

  • SURJ Ohio also helped write, get on the ballot, and pass the most powerful police oversight board in the country with 59% of the vote in 2021, after 6 years of power building alongside Black-led organizations and victims/families of police violence in Cleveland.

I'm trying to raise $2,000 for SURJ by September 27, 2024. I’m personally donating $100, though please choose any amount that feels right for you. Whether it's $10, $25, or more, any amount counts!!

Thank you for caring and PLEASE let me know if you're already engaged in any political action, volunteering, fundraising, etc., aimed at building a just and sustainable future so I can support you, too!

With love, gratitude, and solidarity,

Ryan
