I have been a member of GAPIMNY since 2013. I'm proud to be among leaders who advocate for racial, economic, and immigrant justice because of the way it impacts people who are both of the LGBT community and identify as Asian, but it is because I have received emotional support that sustained me to be around this long.
GAPIMNY was there when my father passed away in 2016, buying me a floral wreath for the funeral. And when the pandemic broke the supply chain, members did help me secure things like toilet paper.
I encourage everyone to find the social network they need to feel supported. I invite you to be a part of that network at a time of my reflection. I have also seen this organization through some milestone years of its own. The video above captures some reflection during its 25th year.
