My name is Ryyn Schumacher and I’m running for Ventura City Council in District 3.
When my family and I moved to Ventura, I instantly fell in love with this amazing city. Not only was I struck by the beauty and recreational opportunities we have, but most importantly, I love the community of people who care. There's so much to love, and I was always taught, when you love something, you take care of it and you protect it.
I'm running for city council because I recognize Ventura is facing significant challenges ahead. We've had turmoil and uncertainty in our city government that resulted in numerous management and staff transitions, funding shortfalls and communication breakdowns. Now, more than ever, is the time when we need a city council that will provide bold leadership and creative solutions.
With my 20 years of experience in public health, social services, and business leadership, along with my values from my working-class family, and a proven track record of collaborating with government agencies, businesses, and community organizations, I have a fresh perspective centered on community values that will achieve meaningful results.
So, Ventura … for our children and grandchildren, for the health of our environment, and to protect our unique quality of life and ensure equity for all of our neighbors, let’s work together to create a Ventura that is thriving, healthy, and resilient. Because together, we can create meaningful change and build the strong, vibrant Ventura we all deserve.
