I have deep experience in advocating for those most in need in our community and am passionate about ensuring excellent services and transparent government.
As a local Councilmember, Mayor, County Commissioner, State Assemblymember and Member of the State Board of Equalization, I've worked to empower working families, people living with disabilities, seniors, immigrants and refugees.
I've been a fighter for our environment regionally, statewide and nationally, and successfully created clean air protections, energy efficiency and resource efficiency laws and policies. Housing that is affordable and secure, and transit that is efficient and safe are top priorities for me.
I have a special mission to work to empower youth in our foster and dependency care systems, and to help strengthen families in need.
