Sandra Wittner

Let's finish the job.

A lot has happened in Dover, and in my life since I first announced my candidacy for First Ward Alderman in the spring of 2018.

Heck, the position of Alderman doesn’t even technically exist anymore!

Since taking my first oath, I’ve grown my family, and my husband and I are now proud parents of two very unique (but equally exhausting) little boys.

I’ve worked on the front lines in our hospitals and in our neighborhoods during the worst pandemic this world has ever seen.

And I’ve been re-elected twice - including by a record-breaking margin in 2022.

I even tried to run for Mayor for a minute. That was…an experience.

From being a fresh-faced rookie in 2019 to now being the most senior member of the Town Council, I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together to move Dover forward.

But, I must acknowledge that things weren’t always perfect.

In the first few years, I was admittedly blinded by the trust I put in the wrong people. However, I learned from that experience that the best way, no - the ONLY way, to be an effective public servant is to listen to the people first, the people last, and the people always.

And I’ve learned not to let perfection be the enemy of the good; that just because something isn’t my idea doesn’t mean it’s a bad one, nor that it should be defeated. That progress is simply impossible without change.

Friends and neighbors, we’ve done much together in the last 5 years. But, simply put, we have unfinished business.

And I’m just getting started.
