3rd Annual Sankofa Knight Awards

Goal thermometer

Please join us for our 3rd Annual Sankofa Knight Awards & Fundraiser . Sankofa, the African native bird is associated with the proverb that expresses the need to reflect on our past in order to build a successful future. Last year’s Sankofa night was a great success as we honored Ms. Regina Jackson of the East Oakland Youth Development Center. This year is the first year that we will have honorees in multiple categories which include the Sankofa Knight Award, Labor Warrior of the Year and Black Owned Business of the year.

As a club, we’re excited about what we’ve been able to accomplish thus far: we were able to send mailers to over 6000 African American identified households in the primaries, we’ve increased and diversified our membership this year to include 35% more members, we participated in the Annual Oakland Natives Give Back, Attend and Achieve-Back to School Rally, hosted a Necessity drive for YEAH shelter and held our Annual “Reaching Beyond the Dream” book drive. In addition to our community service work we were able to knock on over 1000 doors and participate in several phone banks in support of our endorsed candidates. We anticipate even greater success in the coming year.

Come join us for an evening out and cocktails as we award our local heroes for their contributions to our community. Hope to see you all there!
