Hi Y'all! Sarah George here. Since the day I was sworn in as Chittenden County State's Attorney I have worked to dismantle the oppressive and violent practices of the criminal legal system while centering the needs and safety of our community.
Wherever possible, my office has promoted alternatives to prosecution. We focus on substance and mental health services over incarceration, accountability over punishment, and restorative outcomes.
The State's Attorneys Office addresses harm caused to victims and works to lower recidivism and incarceration rates. We do this by expanding community services and supports with the goal of shrinking the footprint of the legal system.
