Sara's Sunrise Fundraising Page
Since summer 2017, I have been working with Sunrise Movement, a movement of young people who have dedicated our lives to solving the climate crisis. Sunrise is mobilizing young people who feel the fear and uncertainty of this collective future, and relentlessly fighting for the solutions that can save us.
In 2018, Sunrise was on the ground for months with hundreds of volunteers working to elect politicians who would stand up for the health of our communities. One week after the 2018 midterms, we mobilized hundreds of young people to descend on Nancy Pelosi's office and, together with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, launch the movement fot a Green New Deal.
Since then, we've moved mountains. We've grown from a small handful of scrappy young people to a small army of thousands of people ready to stand up and fight for the people and places we love. We've...
- Grown from 20 Sunrise hubs to 260 nationwide.
- Had major features in Vox, Buzzfeed, Vogue, NBC, Politico, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and more.
- Gotten every major 2020 presidential candidate to come out in support of the Green New Deal.
- Trained over 3,000 new leaders in the movement.
- Helped organize the September 20th global climate strike, the largest day of climate action in world history.
We've had an amazing year, but our work is only beginning. 2020 will be a history-defining year for our country and our world, and Sunrise plans to do our part to ensure we elect a president who will champion a Green New Deal and fight for all of us. My goal is to raise $3,000 for Sunrise by Jan. 3. Contribute now to help Sunrise power our work into 2019.
