All individuals, regardless of their gender identity, deserve equal treatment, protection, and opportunities. It is unfortunate that transgender rights are under attack across the nation, including the State of Texas.

Efforts to improve the quality of life for transgender women of color and other people of color across the transgender spectrum are crucial. Transgender individuals, particularly those from marginalized communities, often face intersecting forms of discrimination and violence. It is essential to address these challenges and provide support and resources to ensure their well-being and empowerment.

Gender justice services that focus on assisting transgender individuals during their transition can play a vital role in this process. These services may include access to healthcare, legal assistance, leadership opportunities, and education. By prioritizing gender justice and addressing the unique needs and experiences of transgender individuals, we can work towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

Supporting SOSU’s initiatives, that advocate for trans rights and challenge discriminatory policies and laws is beyond important and impactful. By promoting education, awareness, and acceptance, we as an organization can contribute to the progress of transgender rights and create a safer and more inclusive environment for Black Trans individuals.

Save Our Sisters United (SOSU) since its creation in 2016. Our dedication to supporting Black trans women of color and other people of color of trans experience in the Greater Houston Area is intentional.

Wellness Fairs and name/gender change clinics provide essential services and support for transgender individuals. These events not only offer resources but also create a sense of community and belonging, which is crucial for the well-being of marginalized populations.

By helping individuals navigate resources and services within the Greater Houston Area, SOSU plays a vital role in ensuring that Black trans women of color and other people of color of trans experience have access to the support they need. This assistance can include healthcare co-pay assistance, mental health services, legal aid, leadership opportunities, housing support, and more. By connecting individuals with these resources, SOSU is making a significant difference in improving their quality of life.
