On May 2, 2022, Politico reported on a leaked draft SCOTUS opinion with a decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a decision affirming a women's right to an abortion with government interference.
Is this the end of abortion rights in Michigan?
If overturned, a 1931 state law banning abortions returns as the law, making Michigan one of the most restrictive states in the country.
Now more than ever, we must elect pro-choice women and men in the State Legislature to defend Michigan women's rights to determine their own healthcare decision.
There are new 2022 political district boundaries and both the Michigan House and Senate are poised to flip from Red to Blue, giving Governor Witmer, AG Nessel and SOS Benson a legislature to partner with.
