Pride is a celebration, but more importantly, it is a fight. We hear on the news every day that another transphobic bill has passed, another gay couple is refused service, or on the worst days, another trans person is attacked and sometimes murdered for just being true to who they are.
I came out as my true self in June 2015, just a few days after gay marriage was legalized federally. I can admit that the joy from that milestone made me complacent, but I have since realized that we must continue the fight for our basic rights.
We've set a goal to raise $1 for every anti-LGBTQ+ legislation introduced at the state level since 2022. Our neighbors are far too often ignored and pushed to the outside for defending our communities. Now is the time to rally together to demand - and fight for - a change.
