SBYC is excited to officially launch our fundraising campaign: Co-Create Transformation. Since 2020, SBYC has built a strong foundation to organize Asian American youth and build community power in the South Bay. We’ve clarified our youth organizing strategy, built organizational infrastructure, and developed strong programs to train a new generation of youth leaders. SBYC is at a critical stage in our trajectory as a powerbuilding organization. In our fourth formative year, SBYC is going through our biggest transformation yet!

  • John Zhao, our founding Co-Director, is transitioning out of the staff team to support as a Strategic Advisor.
  • We are restructuring and growing our team to 4 full-time staff members.
  • We are pursuing a 5 year strategic plan with ambitious milestones for building Asian American youth power.

We also want to ground in the current political moment. Climate collapse is not a distant future but an impending reality. Fascism is resurging across the globe. The whole world is watching and protesting the Israeli genocide of Palestine. The tech companies and weapons manufacturers right here in Silicon Valley are enabling disinformation, silencing marginalized communities, and enabling genocide.

SBYC is clearer than ever on our strategy and the importance of building Asian American youth power in the South Bay. We must build a mass base of young leaders to run powerful campaigns, to shift the resources and power here in Silicon Valley towards racial and economic justice.

We can only do this important work with sustained resources from our community – that means supporters and allies like YOU! That’s why we are launching our Sustainers Circle! We are calling on 75 people to co-create SBYC’s transformation with us and to keep SBYC strong for many years to come, by giving monthly donations in 2024.

As Grace Lee Boggs said: “You don’t choose the times you live in, but you do choose who you want to be. And you do choose how you think.”

Will YOU join us in co-creating SBYC’s historic next chapter?

Here are some meaningful and symbolic amounts for a monthly donation

  • $72 for the 72 youth members who have completed our summer organizing institute, Critical Connections Summer
  • $43 for the 43 alumni who have graduated from SBYC and continue to fight for social justice
  • $28 because our 5 year strategic plan will move us towards an exciting new horizon in 2028
  • $11 for the 11 high school districts in Santa Clara County where we need to build Asian American youth power
