Hi everyone for those who don't know me, I want to introduce myself. My name is Cairnie Pokorney, and im running for Derry School Board!

Seeking first term
BACKGROUNDI've been very active in working for Progressive change throughout the state as a Democratic Community Organizer. I also participate in multiple volunteer boards & committees at both the State and local levels. Including the Executive Board of the NH Young Democrats & NH New Leaders Council. I'm passionate about training and developing young voices. I am a Pinkerton Academy graduate, and I've seen firsthand what it takes to get an education that can open up doors for you— I believe public education is the bedrock of a functioning society.
I want to help ensure everyone gets the opportunity for a well-rounded education. I've been disappointed that the representation for Derry at the State House hasn't been the voice or advocate we need to explain the current dire situation we face by the lack of state funding for our public schools. If elected, I will change that; I'm dedicated to not only bringing a voice to our Derry School Board but to the State House as well.
MOST IMPORTANT CURRENT ISSUE & MY POSITION
Balance Quality Education with Limited Resources:
I am a strong defender of small class sizes. I will critically analyze the district's needs to find ways to increase the number of paraprofessionals available to meet the needs of students, as well as creating opportunities for community outreach so families and kids of all backgrounds & identities can be included. I think it is important that we have a strategic plan and optimize our curriculum. I will work harder than anyone to develop and implement strategic long-term solutions and not be afraid to ask hard questions. I also think it's essential to have a diversity of viewpoints and perspectives. I have the skill of seeing both sides and coming up with strategies and solutions. With your vote on March 14th, I can provide that much-needed perspective of our kids in the public school system need.
