In South Carolina, extreme lawmakers in Columbia spent 2024 doing everything in their power to force through dangerous bills attacking queer youth and thousands of LGBTQ+ families.
Tens of thousands of South Carolinians took action with the SC United for Justice & Equality coalition to fight these bills – thank you. Despite the majority of our state supporting LGBTQ+ equality, extremist lawmakers passed multiple bills attacking trans and LGBTQ+ communities in 2024. In 2025, we need to be ready to fight more anti-LGBTQ+ and protect our progress with everything we have. That means hiring more rapid response organizers across the state so they can put pressure on lawmakers when and where it will matter most, and directly supporting our communities with resources, events, and more to help them through the harms caused by these laws.
We need to make sure we have the resources to support our people, and fight back against anti-LGBTQ+ extremists as they prepare more attacks on our communities. Please, pitch in a donation to support this work.
SC United for Justice & Equality envisions a South Carolina where everyone can thrive, with a focus on the lived and legal equality of LGBTQ people. The coalition advocates for the passage of legislation to protect LGBTQ community members and opposes anti-LGBTQ legislation. The coalition also works on intersecting issues of social justice, including racial justice, reproductive justice, voting rights, and health care access.
