Representative Stephanie Simacek is a public school teacher, Deer Valley Unified School District Board member, and a proud mom running for reelection in Arizona’s Legislative District 2. Inspired by teachers who shaped her own education, Stephanie earned her master’s degree in early childhood education from Grand Canyon University and became a public school teacher. In 2022, Stephanie was elected to the Deer Valley Unified School District Governing Board, where she proudly advocates for all students in Deer Valley. In 2024, Stephanie ran for State House to represent Legislative District 2 and won, despite a difficult election cycle for Democratic state legislative candidates.
As a mother and representative of her community, Stephanie understands the challenges and aspirations of families across the district. In the Arizona Legislature, she fights for strong public schools, water and environmental solutions, affordable housing, and the protection of reproductive freedom. These are not partisan issues; they affect Arizonans across the district regardless of political affiliation.
WHY THIS RACE
The Arizona State House currently stands at 27 Democrats and 33 Republicans. In 2024, Stephanie won her seat in a tightly contested race, narrowly defeating the second Republican candidate and holding the district for Democrats. The district is now considered one of the most competitive battlegrounds in the state. Democrats have also performed strongly here in statewide races—in 2024, Senator Ruben Gallego won the district with 52.7% of the vote. If Democrats want a path to the House majority, reelecting Stephanie will be essential to maintaining and expanding Democratic power in 2026.
WHY ARIZONA
In the 2024 Arizona state legislative elections, Democrats faced significant head winds and lost three seats while picking up one. Despite those challenges, Democrats have flipped key statewide offices and presidential votes in recent years. All 90 legislative seats and the governorship are up for grabs in 2026, giving Democrats a chance to shift the balance of power. Democratic victories in Arizona would help safeguard reproductive freedom, climate action, and voting rights while maintaining national momentum for the party.
