States Win for Mai Xiong (MI HD 13)

Representative Mai Xiong has served Michigan’s 13th District since winning a 2024 special election and winning her general election with the help of States Win. Mai has spent her first legislative session fighting for quality education, stronger veterans’ services, and environmental protection in Warren, Roseville, and St. Clair Shores. Before joining the State House, she broke barriers as the first Hmong American elected to the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, where she championed equity and programs for underserved residents.

Born in a Thai refugee camp after her family fled persecution following the Vietnam War, Mai immigrated to the U.S. at age three and grew up in Ohio before settling in Warren, where she raised five children and ran a small business. A first-generation college graduate with a BFA in Graphic Design and an MBA, she brings her lived experience as a refugee, mother, and entrepreneur to her public service, driving her fight for opportunity and equity across Michigan.

WHY THIS RACE

Reelecting Mai is essential to building a Democratic trifecta in 2026. As an incumbent with deep community roots and a history-making record, Mai not only defends a key district in Macomb County but also forces Republicans to look elsewhere for a pickup. Holding this seat keeps Democrats on offense, paving the path to reclaiming the majority and securing the power needed to deliver for Michigan families.

WHY MICHIGAN

In 2022, Democrats secured a blue trifecta for the first time in nearly 40 years and delivered transformative advancements on voting rights, gun safety, and reproductive freedom. Heading into the 2026 midterms, Republicans now hold the State House by six seats (58R-52D). With a slim margin and an open Governor’s race, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Taking back the House would not only restore Democratic control of the chamber but also pave the way for a new Democratic governor to partner with a Democratic Senate and, together, that trifecta can once again deliver bold progress on reproductive freedom, voting rights, climate action, and economic justice—shaping Michigan’s future for a generation.
