Hadley Haas is a Pittsburgh native, parent, and community advocate who has spent her life helping others and paving the way for the next generation. From navigating her son’s hearing loss to mentoring and supporting other families, she has turned personal challenges into meaningful action. Hadley has taken on leadership roles with Friends of the Hearing Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as a parent representative to the state newborn hearing screening committee, and as a volunteer at local schools. In 2020, she expanded her advocacy to gun violence prevention as elections chair and co-lead of the Pittsburgh chapter of Moms Demand Action, where she meets with families impacted by tragedy and works to advance real policy change.
Hadley is running to flip Pennsylvania House District 44 blue and turn a lifetime of service into solutions that protect children, strengthen schools, and ensure every family in her community has the support they need to thrive. In Harrisburg, she will bring the same compassion, selflessness, and dedication that has guided her life.
WHY THIS RACE
Democrats currently hold the Pennsylvania House by just one seat, while Republicans control the State Senate. This seat is one of the most important flip opportunities in Allegheny County, and electing Hadley in HD-44 would strengthen the Democratic majority and protect progress in the state. The district has been competitive in recent cycles and reflects the continued political shift in Pittsburgh’s suburbs, where voters are increasingly rejecting partisan gridlock and instead choosing pragmatic leadership.
WHY PENNSYLVANIA
Pennsylvania is a critical battleground state because it is one of only three states in the country with a divided legislature, making control of state government highly competitive and consequential. The stakes are particularly high in a year when Governor Josh Shapiro is also on the ballot and there is a potential pathway for Democrats to make broader gains across the state. With several recent special elections highlighting how closely contested control of the state has been, Pennsylvania remains a central focus for efforts to shape the state’s political balance and policy direction in the years ahead.
