Leslie Mehta is a civil rights attorney with two decades of experience fighting for justice. She served as legal director of the ACLU of Virginia and was appointed to Democratic Governor Northam’s Commission on Racial Inequity in the Law.
Leslie’s commitment to health care advocacy is deeply personal. After losing her five-year-old daughter, Brooke, to Rett syndrome, she began working to improve access to care for families facing rare diseases—partnering with Congresswoman Spanberger on federal research funding and serving on Republican Governor Youngkin’s Rare Disease Council.
Leslie brings a strong record of bipartisan leadership and is dedicated to strengthening HD 73 by expanding job opportunities and improving the lives of all its residents.
WHY THIS RACE
Electing Leslie Mehta to Virginia’s House of Delegates is essential for expanding the Democratic majority and advancing justice-focused policies. A civil rights attorney and former ACLU of Virginia Legal Director, Mehta has spent her career fighting for fairness, healthcare access, and civil liberties. Electing Leslie would bring experienced, principled leadership to Richmond.
WHY VIRGINIA
Democrats must defend our House majority to keep Virginia a firewall against right-wing extremism. With momentum on our side, we can win key swing districts and build power for 2026. We also have a major opportunity to take back the Governor’s office and statewide seats, securing Virginia’s future as a stronghold for democracy.
