Jaime Churches is a teacher, union vice president, and former member of the Michigan House of Representatives running to reclaim the 27th State House seat. Inspired by her students and community to make an impact beyond the classroom, Jaime is a creative problem solver dedicated to amplifying Downriver voices in Lansing. Her race is a prime Democratic flip opportunity and is key to reclaiming a Democratic majority in 2026. After narrowly winning this seat in 2022 and losing it by just over four points in 2024, flipping HD-27 is now essential to restoring a Democratic trifecta. Senator Lisa Grafstein has represented North Carolina’s 13th Senate District since 2023, bringing nearly three decades of experience as a civil rights attorney to her legislative work. A leading voice on reproductive freedom and disability justice, she has transitioned from fighting for marginalized communities in court to successfully championing higher minimum wages, stronger anti-discrimination protections, and expanded ballot access. Her seat is a top Republican target in a defining 2026 battleground where defending key incumbents is the only way to sustain Governor Josh Stein’s vetoes and protect North Carolina from the GOP’s extreme agenda.
