Sister District for Woodson Bradley (NC SD-42)

Senator Woodson Bradley has represented North Carolina’s 42nd Senate District since 2024, when she won her election by just 210 votes with support from Sister District. In her first term, she has worked to deliver practical solutions for Charlotte’s rapidly growing neighborhoods while standing up for families across the state. A mom, wife, and small business owner, Woodson brings both lived experience and a deep commitment to service to her work in Raleigh. Her experience as a sexual assault and domestic violence survivor drives her passionate advocacy for survivors and her efforts to strengthen North Carolina’s social services.

Woodson’s civic and professional work reflect her lifelong dedication to community. She owns a small business, teaches fitness at the Greater Charlotte YMCA, serves as Booster President for the Marine Corps JROTC program, and volunteers with organizations like Classroom Central, NC Special Olympics, and the Mecklenburg County Family Justice Center. Raised by parents who worked as a teacher and a juvenile court social worker, she continues the family tradition of service while raising her three children with her husband, William, a retired sheriff’s deputy and entrepreneur.

WHY THIS RACE

Woodson won her election in 2024 by just 210 votes, one of the slimmest margin of all the senate seats in North Carolina. Holding this seat is essential if Democrats want to expand their power in the Senate, providing another safeguard for Democratic Governor Stein’s vetoes, and blocking Republican efforts to dismantle public education, reproductive rights, and voting protections.

WHY NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina will be a defining battleground in the 2026 midterms, with control of the legislature and an open U.S. Senate seat on the line. In 2024, Democrats ended the Republican supermajority in the House, giving Democratic Governor Josh Stein the ability to veto Republican attacks on reproductive rights, public schools, and voting access. Flipping vulnerable districts and defending key incumbents is the only way to keep Democrats strong enough to stop the GOP’s extreme agenda.
