Sister District for LuAnn Bird (WI Assembly 61)
LuAnn Bird says that “you can’t sit back.” When she saw that her representative was voting with far-right Republicans in 2022, she decided to step forward and challenge Rep. Bob Donovan. LuAnn narrowly lost that election but has been fighting for her community ever since. Now with fairer maps, LuAnn is running again in a seat that Democrats must win to take control of the WI State Assembly.
WHY WISCONSIN IS IMPORTANT
Finally, fair maps in Wisconsin! Democrats need to flip 15 seats in the Wisconsin Assembly to gain the majority. Post-2020 census, Wisconsin’s General Assembly produced terribly gerrymandered legislative maps (again); a new progressive state Supreme Court majority ordered them thrown out, and now we have a massive, generational opportunity for Democrats to attain majorities. We must elect LuAnn in this democracy and abortion battleground.
